They can often be found in the following forms: Actinoform, which resembles a leaf or a spoked wheel. Closed cell, which is cloudy in the center and clear on the edges, similar to a filled honeycomb. Open cell, which resembles an empty honeycomb, with clouds around the edges and clear, open space in the middle.

Warm air rises and cools. The relative humidity of the air increases. Air eventually becomes saturated. Water vapor condenses on smoke, dust, salt, and other small particals. Millions of tiny water drops of liquid water collect to form a cloud.
When does a cloud begin to form?
A cloud forms when air is heated by the sun. As it rises, it slowly cools it reaches the saturation point and water condenses, forming a cloud. As long as the cloud and the air that its made of is warmer than the outside air around it, it floats!

Why do clouds form in autumn and winter?
With the long nights and comparatively weak sunshine of late autumn and winter the ground cools, and so too the air at low levels. If the wind brings sufficient moisture off the sea into the weather system it can condense as cloud in the colder air layer. When this colder air is trapped low down by a cap of warmer air the cloud may linger for days.
Rain falls from clouds in the sky in the form of water droplets, this is called precipitation. Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall to Earth as rain.
The water droplets and ice crystals in clouds tend to grow in size as the clouds move over the planet below. Once a water droplet or ice crystal grows too large and too heavy to “float” it falls to the earth as rain, snow, sleet or hail. In other words, parts of the cloud fall to the ground !

A cloud doesn’t usually FALL to the ground (unless you count rain, which isn’t really a cloud anymore, but it is the water FROM the cloud). But it is very common for a cloud to FORM on the ground, and it is called fog.
Do clouds float on air?
As a result, clouds appear to float on air. Clouds are composed primarily of small water droplets and, if it’s cold enough, ice crystals. The vast majority of clouds you see contain droplets and/or crystals that are too small to have any appreciable fall velocity. So the particles continue to float with the surrounding air.
